Dustin Miller is a member of the Governmental Affairs Department at Nyemaster Goode, P.C. His law practice is primarily focused on representing clients as a lobbyist at the Iowa Legislature and with agencies of the State of Iowa but also practices law in the areas of environmental and water quality, municipal law and economic development. Prior to moving to Nyemaster, he was the General Counsel for the Iowa League of Cities after serving two years as the Director of Government Affairs. He was primarily responsible for the League’s state legislative activities and providing legal guidance to member cities. This work included federal and state regulatory work on environmental compliance issues, such as compliance with the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act.
He was raised in Lacona, Iowa (pop. 363) and returned to the state in 2012 after working in Washington DC in the Office of the Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture with Tribal Governments in multiple agency areas that included federal environmental compliance for over $1 billion in telecommunications and wastewater infrastructure projects authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. He also worked on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation with a non-profit he founded to spur economic development and worked in Houses of Parliament for Alistair Burt MP for NE Bedfordshire.
Miller received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from Drake Law School where he also received a certificate in Food & Agriculture Law.
