Our presenters cover basic concepts in U.S. copyright law, some popular myths relating to copyright, and then addresses how these copyright law concepts might apply to issues relating to newspapers and newspaper advertising.
Matthew A. McGuire: is a partner at Nyemaster Goode, P.C. in Des Moines, where his practice encompasses commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and antitrust matters. Prior to attending law school, Matt received his undergraduate degree in journalism from Drake University.
Wendy Marsh is an intellectual property attorney with Nyemaster Goode P.C. in Des Moines. Her practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Prior to law school, Wendy obtained a degree in pharmacy and was a practicing pharmacist. She uses this knowledge in her patent practice which pertains primarly to chemical and pharmeceutical patents. Before joining Nyemaster, Wendy practiced for 15 years with McKee, Voorhees & Sease in Des Moines, where she supervised the firm’s international and trademark departments.
