Sarah Bryner joined OpenSecrets 2011 and is responsible for overseeing OpenSecrets' data analysis, research collaborations and general data collection and quality. Previously, she was OpenSecrets' lobbying and revolving door researcher. She is frequently cited as an expert on money in politics by national and international media outlets and is a frequent guest on NPR, CBS, Scripps News Service and more. Sarah also produces written reports for OpenSecrets on topics including competitive Congressional primaries, democratic backsliding, and race and political financing. She received her Ph.D. in political science from the Ohio State University in 2014 and her B.A. from Beloit College in 2006. Her dissertation, "Politicians Behaving Badly: The Determinants and Outcomes of Political Scandal in Post-Watergate America," incorporates both original data collection and political experiments.
